Alpha-heir Karl Jacobs had a life he was proud of. Thefts, fraud, and deceit from people usually trusted hits the men hard, both physically and emotionally. When the ultimate threat comes forward, both men are going to have to trust the other to have their backs, or it could mean death for both of them. No one dispenses justice in a story quite like Lisa Oliver does. The bad guys get it and the good guys come out on top.This story starts with the alpha, Karl, officially leaving his old pack and soon meeting his fated mate, Tanner. Neither is what the other expects and that is where the angst starts.There were a couple points where I thought the plot would go a certain way... and it didn’t. Bravo for keeping me guessing.In the afterword, the author acknowledges the challenge of a “stand alone” story. This is a bit of a joke among her fans as there are usually so many great secondary characters clamoring for their own story. Let’s hope that is the case here too.My only quibble is the turnaround in Karl’s attitude toward a male omega comes very quickly. I expected a bit more struggle than that, put it down to the pull of the mate bond, I guess.Great story!
